Peak, the co-op climbing game that sold five million copies in under a month and has since passed 11 million, is launching on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and Switch 2 on October 22. Team Peak announced the PlayStation 5 version on the PlayStation Blog, which naturally doesn’t mention the other two consoles, but the developers’ own announcement covers all three. Cross-play is included, so you can climb with up to three friends no matter what platform they’re on. The console versions include every content update, biome, and item the game has received since its June 2025 launch on PC, including the ability to physically kick your friends in custom runs.

Team Peak is the name for the collaboration between Aggro Crab, the Seattle studio behind Another Crab’s Treasure and Going Under, and Landfall, the Stockholm studio behind Content Warning, Haste, Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, and Stick Fight: The Game. The two studios met at a developer conference in 2022, and Peak started as a one-month game jam in Seoul in February 2025, with three Aggro Crab developers and four Landfall developers working out of a rented apartment. The teams then went their separate ways, with Landfall finishing Haste and Aggro Crab continuing on Peak, before meeting back up in Sweden in June to finish the game around Midsummer.

The game itself has you playing as a lost nature scout, solo or in a group, whose only hope of rescue from a mysterious island is scaling the mountain at its center. Each biome has its own hazards, from tornadoes and poison clouds to birds and zombies, and you’ll have to scavenge questionable food and manage injuries along the way, since every setback cuts into your stamina. Runs can also be customized to be easier or harder depending on what your group is in the mood for. As we said when it crossed five million, it’s plenty of fun with friends and just as entertaining to watch.

For those who want a disc, Skybound Games is handling a physical PlayStation 5 edition on December 9 for $19.99, with preorders open now at select retailers. It includes the game with all of its major updates so far, including The Final Ascent and the Gloom and Citadel biomes. There’s also a Buddy Code for a second digital copy to hand to a friend, plus a printed Scout Passport with customization stickers.
