As promised, Palworld’s Home Sweet Home update is now live. While it’s not as content-rich as previous updates, developer Pocketpair stated it was necessary to begin laying the groundwork as it works on the development of Palworld 1.0. The game is expected to exit Early Access next year for its full release, after enjoying a wildly successful launch in early 2024.

Before we dive into the new improvements from the patch, today’s update also brings Palworld’s second collab, this time with Ultrakill. Like the Terraria collab, players get several new weapons and armor choices from ULTRAKILL, as well as V1’s infamous coin toss.

As for the Home Sweet Home part of the patch, v0.7 mainly focuses on improving base building with a number of new building parts, including triangular pieces. Personally, I’m most excited to hear that we can finally change the colors of our building pieces. Given how colorful all the different Pals are in Palworld, it was always strange how drab the building pieces were. The patch also redesigned and reformatted the building menu UI in hopes of making it easier to navigate. Players can now select the structures and parts they need more intuitively, or at least Pocketpair hopes.

As for other features, players can now choose to either fight at their base or take on a raid boss in a special Raid Area when summoning a raid boss at the Summoning Altar. These Raid Areas allow players to take on raid bosses without worrying about damaging their bases. Players can build temporary structures and take items into the Raid Areas. To celebrate this new addition, there’s a new raid boss for players to take on.

Pocketpair also started work to improve melee combat in the game, in hopes of making it more viable and fun for players. If you’ve played Palworld, you know melee takes a backseat to ranged. As a result, the basic attacks for swords, katanas, and beam swords have been changed, and players can now perform attacks consecutively. The team has also added special attacks to katanas and beam swords. This is just the first pass at improving melee combat, and there are more planned for full release.

On Steam, Palworld finally has Steam Workshop support, so players can easily try out different mods. To ensure fair play though, official servers prohibit the use of mods, so it’s mainly for people who play alone or privately with their friends. Lastly, Pocketpair admitted that it’s hard to fully integrate PvP into Palworld, but it is releasing all the necessary tools so players can create their own PvP rules. The feature is currently experimental, so there are some balancing issues, but there are PvP parameters that can now be set on servers.

There was one more announcement from Pocketpair that isn’t directly related to the Home Sweet Home update. Palworld has teamed up with Makeship for a lineup of eight plushies: Grizzbolt, Fainted Chikipi, Pengullet, Zoe, Daedream, Quivern, Chillet, and Katress. They’re all available for preorder exclusively at Makeship, while supplies last. It appears that they won’t be shipping until late May 2026.
