Less than two weeks after Nintendo revealed Pokémon Pokopia, a cozy farming sim starring all our favorite Pokémon, Pocketpair has announced Palworld: Palfarm. If you follow gaming news, you’ll know Palworld has been embroiled in lawsuits with Nintendo over certain game mechanics that are heavily inspired by the Pokémon franchise. Now, it seems like Palfarm is going to be up against Pokémon Pokopia as they’re both essentially cozy spin-offs of existing franchises.
In Palworld: Palfarm, players move to an island where Pals live with the goal of building a bountiful farm and enjoying island life. The trailer features numerous familiar Pals, and Pocketpair confirmed they’ll be able to help with farm work, cooking, running stores, and gathering materials. Taking a page out of games like Stardew Valley, players will be able to give Pals gifts each day. The game will also feature relationships, either with Pals or other residents, and a short teaser shows what appears to be a wedding with Zoe.
It’s not all going to be peaceful, though, as nasty Pals will raid farms and ferocious Pals will live underground. Palworld: Palfarm will also feature a marketplace where players can buy and sell crops and crafted goods. Of course, the Black Marketeer returns with some questionable items for sale, including guns.
No release date or release window for Palworld: Palfarm has been announced, but it will support multiplayer when it launches. The game is being developed by a new team at Pocketpair.
At least there’s no question that Palworld: Palfarm is a real game. Pal♡world! ~More Than Just Pals~, on the other hand, still needs real proof.
