Considering that games are getting more expensive, with Mario Kart World priced at $79.99, it may not come as a surprise that Nintendo is discontinuing the Switch Game Vouchers. The company has announced they will be purchasable until 11:59 PM Pacific Time on January 30, 2026, or 2:59 AM Eastern Time on January 31, 2026. Any voucher purchased from now until that date remains valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. This means that anyone who purchases Switch Game Vouchers on the final day will have them valid until January 30, 2027.
Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers are one of the best deals for getting Switch games if you’re willing to take a few extra steps. Two vouchers cost $99.98, which gives you two digital games from the voucher catalog. What many people do, however, is find a deal on Nintendo eShop gift cards so they can stack the savings. For example, every now and then you’ll run into 10 percent savings on eShop gift cards, meaning you get $100 of value for $90, which essentially gives you two game vouchers for $90, making each game effectively $45.
Unfortunately, vouchers cannot be redeemed for games exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, but you can purchase the Switch version and pay separately for the Switch 2 upgrade, which still offers noticeable savings. As for how many new titles will be added to the eligible voucher list from now until January 30, 2027, that’s anyone’s guess. For the most part, the program has offered most first-party titles, but Nintendo’s playing by a whole new set of rules these days following the Switch 2’s release.
