Nintendo has released a new Fire Emblem spinoff game on mobile devices today, September 25, seemingly out of nowhere. Titled Fire Emblem Shadows, the game is currently available on Android and iOS as a free-to-start title with optional in-game purchases. According to the game’s press release, Fire Emblem Shadows combines real-time strategy and social deduction.
Gameplay revolves around one of three allies in each battle secretly being a treacherous disciple of shadow. Players will have to take on the role of either a disciple of light or a disciple of shadow. As a disciple of light, they’ll aim to find their way through the labyrinth, while the disciple of shadow works to deceive others. After the first battle, players will vote on who they believe is the disciple of shadow, and the outcome of the vote affects whether the next battle is more favorable or more challenging. If this reads a bit like Among Us, we agree, but we haven’t had a chance to go hands-on yet (it’s downloading!)
Fire Emblem Shadows is available in more than 70 countries and regions and supports 10 languages, including Japanese and English. It’s developed by Intelligent Systems and DeNA.
