The Nintendo 2DS and 3DS got a major update today, adding Miiverse to the handheld system in addition to support for Nintendo Network IDs and a unified eShop wallet. Though it may seem that Nintendo is behind the times with its convoluted online systems, at least the company is working on improving it. This is the first major step for Nintendo towards unifying its eShop system and hopefully it also means that online purchases will now be tied to a Nintendo Network ID account instead of a console.
As for the Miiverse app on the 2DS and 3DS, it works just like the Miiverse found on the Wii U. Nintendo also mentioned in its update notes that the 2DS and 3DS also received “further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.”
