One of the best games I’ve ever played, NieR: Automata has announced that it has achieved over nine million global shipments and download sales. The 2017 action RPG, developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix, has been a remarkable success and fans are eagerly awaiting the next entry in the series—at least one that isn’t a mobile game. Originally released on PlayStation 4 and PC, NieR: Automata eventually made its way to the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Sales for the game continue to impress, considering NieR: Automata confirmed in November 2022 that it had sold over seven million copies worldwide. It was announced in February 2024 that the game had sold eight million copies.
If you played and loved NieR: Automata and are eagerly awaiting Yoko Taro’s next creation, it’s worth checking out this year’s Stellar Blade. It comes from developer Shift Up and doesn’t shy away from the fact that it draws inspiration from NieR: Automata. In fact, Stellar Blade recently had a crossover event with NieR: Automata.
