Fighting game fans, and even those who are new to the genre thanks to Street Fighter 6, should be looking forward to Mortal Kombat 1. So far, every trailer we’ve seen for the game looks fantastic, including this one that debuted today. It’s the Keepers of Time trailer and unveils that Geras is joining the roster. He’s an immortal, artificial construct who was created by Kronika, the former Keeper of Time. He made his debut in Mortal Kombat 11 as an antagonist in the story.

Developer NetherRealm Studios is clearly having some fun with this reboot of the Mortal Kombat storyline, now that Fire God Liu Kang has created a new universe. Speaking of Liu Kang, this trailer has one of the most creative fatalities we’ve seen yet and we can’t wait to see what else NetherRealm has up its sleeves.

The trailer made its debut during DreamCon 2023, which is hosting a Mortal Kombat 11 tournament. Look for Mortal Kombat 1 to arrive on September 1 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC.
