Capcom has released three new videos for Monster Hunter Wilds: one showcasing a new Focus Mode, another demonstrating the game’s basic mechanics. The third video gives an overview of the Great Sword weapon, so we expect additional videos to come for each of the game’s weapons. Monster Hunter veterans will want to check out the Focus Mode video, a feature that appears to be a replacement for the tenderizing system introduced in Iceborne. It appears to be a lot more intuitive and natural compared to tenderizing. Essentially, monsters will get wounded during battle, and players can switch to Focus Mode to find and exploit the wound for additional damage. It will be interesting to see how Focus Mode impacts the gameplay for other weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds.
The Basic Mechanics video gives an overview of the basic mechanics of the game, including slinger functions and abilities while mounted on a Seikret. If you’re a Great Sword user, you’ll want to pay close attention to the video, as you can see how Focus Mode will impact gameplay for that specific weapon.
Monster Hunter Wilds is slated to launch sometime in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. It was first revealed during The Game Awards 2023, and Capcom is now delivering on its promise of sharing more details on the game in summer 2024.
