Monster Hunter Wilds is the fastest-selling title in Capcom’s long-running history, having sold over eight million units in just three days. It’s a monumental achievement for a franchise that’s been in existence for over two decades, but it really wasn’t until Monster Hunter: World that it grew in popularity in the West. Capcom also confirmed that as of December 31, 2024, the franchise has sold over 108 million units. Obviously, that doesn’t include Monster Hunter Wilds, as it was released on February 28, 2025.
In my Monster Hunter Wilds review, I praised the game for continuing to make just the right amount of changes to keep combat feeling fresh and familiar. When it comes to gameplay and combat, Monster Hunter Wilds continues to be in a league of its own, with one of the best core gameplay loops you can experience in gaming. I had a very hard time putting down the game over the past weekend, and it’s one of those rare games that when I’m not playing it, I’m constantly thinking about it. Unfortunately, the PC version is a hot mess, experiencing frequent crashes and visual glitches, even on my RTX 4090 PC. Hopefully, with the sales success, Capcom can address these issues sooner rather than later, as it’s still sitting with a Mixed user review rating on Steam. But clearly that hasn’t stopped it from selling gangbusters.
