Pokémon Legends: Z-A is gearing up for its October 16 release, and in today’s Pokémon Presents, Trainers received new details on the upcoming title. We’ve known since the game’s debut that it would take place in Lumoise City and it’ll have a day-and-night cycle. During the day, Trainers can explore the city and find various Pokémon in wild zones, including alpha Pokémon. When nighttime comes, Trainers can take on the Z-A Royale to climb the ranks, battling more powerful Trainers like Corbeau, the boss of the Rust Syndicate.

Today’s trailer also revealed other characters who will star in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, including Emma, a detective who will ask players to track down missing Pokémon or locate missing items. There’s also Mable, the acting director of the Pokémon Research Lab. For many, the most exciting announcements were Rogue Mega Evolution and another Mega-Evolved Pokémon. Rogue Mega Evolution are wild Pokémon that are mysteriously Mega Evolving in Lumoise City. Trainers who help battle and calm them can obtain Mega Stones. The trailer also revealed Mega Dragonite with enhanced speed and range in flight. Previously, the game confirmed Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Ampharos, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Sableye, Mega Altaria, Mega Absol, and Mega Lucario.

Originally announced in February 2024, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is the next entry in the Pokémon Legends series, following up Arceus. Starter Pokémon in this title are Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile. It will be available on both the Switch and Switch 2, with the Switch 2 Edition getting improved graphics and frame rates. Preorders are available starting today on the Nintendo eShop, My Nintendo Store, and participating retailers; those who preorder will receive a Ralts holding a Gardevoirite Stone as a bonus. Trainers who purchase the digital version of the game by February 20, 2026 will receive a code for 100 Mega Poké Balls.
