Due to FromSoftware’s meteoric rise, games like Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon are bringing more attention to the mecha genre. If you’ve come to appreciate the appeal of mech games and are looking for more, the upcoming MechWarrior game is slated for release next year. From Piranha Games, MechWarrior 5: Clans is the next standalone MechWarrior game heading to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. While it will have a linear campaign, MechWarrior 5: Clans promises to evolve both gameplay and storytelling in the series. Players will witness the Clan Invasion from the perspective of Clan Smoke Jaguar.
The campaign will unfold across diverse planets, each boasting meticulously designed biomes, hand-crafted maps, and dynamic combat. With an all-new cast of customizable Clan Mechs, players will be able to explore a variety of tactical options. For the first time since 1995’s MechWarrior 2, players will be able to immerse themselves in an action-packed Clan Invasion story.
Naturally, MechWarrior 5: Clans will offer extensive customization options, including a wide range of Clan weapon systems, equipment, and upgrades. Players will be able to swap out larger parts for greater customization and functionality, ahead of assaults. They’ll also be able to select the optimal loadout tailored to the specific terrain, structure, and biome they encounter.
Piranha Games’ most recent MechWarrior entry is MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries from 2019. That game is a campaign-based, open-ended procedural experience that has sold over 1.5 million units. MechWarrior 5: Clans is being developed in Unreal Engine.
