During May’s PlayStation Showcase, we finally saw our first look at extensive gameplay for the upcoming Spider-Man 2. Today, during Summer Game Fest, Insomniac Games announced a release date for the highly anticipated sequel: October 20, 2023. Exclusive to the PlayStation 5, preorders for Spider-Man 2 will launch starting June 16.
In Spider-Man 2, players will take control of both Spider-Men at different points of the campaign and in the open world, they’ll be able to switch nearly instantly as they explore Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. Both Spider-Men will have their own stories and missions in the world. That means both Peter and Miles are key protagonists in the story, which has so far revealed Venom, Lizard, and Kraven as villains.
Starting June 16, preorders will be available and those who choose to preorder will receive an early unlock of the Arachknight Suit for Peter with three additional color variants, an early unlock of the Shadow Spider Suit for Miles with three additional color variants, an early unlock of the Web Grabber gadget, and three skill points to get started. There will also be a Digital Deluxe and Collector’s Edition for the game. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes 10 unique suits (5 for Peter, 5 for Miles), additional Photo Mode frames and stickers, and two additional skill points.
Finally, the Collector’s Edition includes a voucher for the Digital Deluxe Edition, a Steelbook case, and a 19-inch statue featuring the Spider-Men battling Venom. The Collector’s Edition will be available on PlayStation Direct starting 10:00am local time on June 16 in the following markets: United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, Austria, Spain, and Portugal.
