Bungie’s Marathon has had a really bumpy road in development. In June, the game was delayed indefinitely following a lukewarm response to its reveal and Alpha playtest. Since then, Bungie has run several additional closed playtests to gather feedback and is now opening applications so more players can join. Marathon is hosting a Closed Technical Test from October 22 to October 28, and it will be a limited, invite-only playtest for North America and Europe. It’ll be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Like the other recent closed playtests, this one will be under NDA.

Those interested in seeing how Marathon has changed since June should fill out the Closed Technical Test application. Bungie is accepting applications from now until October 16 at 4:00 PM Pacific (7:00 PM Eastern). If you previously applied for the public alpha in April, the form may automatically submit. If it does, you don’t have to do anything else. Applications will also be enabled on Steam from October 13 at 10:00 AM Pacific (1:00 PM Eastern) to October 26 at 4:00 PM Pacific (7:00 PM Eastern).

The game has seen some additions since the Alpha, including three new maps, five runner shells, proximity chat, retuned combat pacing, solo queue, deeper environmental storytelling, and more. The Technical Test build that Bungie is inviting players to will include only a portion of this content and focuses on the early player experience.
