Activision is starting up the marketing train for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, after its November 10 release date was announced earlier this week. Today, the first real trailer for the game has arrived, revealing the return of Vladimir Makarov. The Makarov reveal trailer combines live action and in-game footage, but we’ll have to wait until August 17 for the full gameplay reveal. A glimpse of potential underwater gameplay is also teased.

The trailer, narrated by Captain Price, hints that the Modern Warfare III campaign will center on taking down Makarov. Players who are fans of the original Modern Warfare series will recognize the infamous terrorist, who made a return in the rebooted Modern Warfare series by Activision.

Expect more details in the coming weeks, but we’ll probably get our first real good look at the game on August 17, 2023.
