Announced last October, Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy has finally shared details about the upcoming set launching on June 13, 2025. It will feature the largest collection of Final Fantasy artwork ever in a single game, with characters represented from every mainline Final Fantasy title. Collectors will also be pleased to hear that numerous classic Final Fantasy art pieces will make an appearance on the cards. In total, the set will have over 100 legendary creature cards, with 55 of them being borderless to fully showcase the art style of Final Fantasy.
Preorders are now available for the set, including Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, Commander decks, Collector’s Edition Commander decks, Bundles, and Gift Bundles. The team also teased that a special holiday season release for Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy will come later this year. As for the Commander decks, each one tells the story of an individual title from the franchise, focusing on Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, and Final Fantasy XIV.
Some of Final Fantasy’s most iconic elements will be translated over Magic: The Gathering. Summons, for example, will be the collectible card game’s first-ever Saga creatures. Like summons in Final Fantasy games, these will only stay around for a few turns. Double-faced cards will also be part of the set, allowing players to transform them into an alternate form. While Magic: The Gathering has only shared two mechanics so far, it has promised that there are more debuting in May.
Final Fantasy and Magic: The Gathering fans will have time to save up because these sets aren’t going to be cheap. Each Commander Deck runs $69.99, while the Collector Edition with Surge Foil treatment will cost $149.99 apiece. Starter Kits are available from $19.99, as well as a Gift Bundle priced from $89.99.
