Lords of the Fallen, a dark fantasy action-RPG from Hexworks, is set to release on October 13, 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game takes place over a thousand years after the events of the first game in a vast, interconnected world that is more than five times larger than the original game. Players will also have the option to adventure with a second person in co-op, which is new for the franchise.

Developer Hexworks is led by executive producer Saul Gascon and creative director Cezar Virtosu. The studio was founded in 2020 and consists of a global team with over 75 internal developers. Lords of the Fallen is being created in Unreal Engine 5.

“The Lords of the Fallen is the spiritual successor fans of the original title have always wanted,” said
Cezar Virtosu, creative director. “The game is significantly larger, with a vast, interconnected dual
world split between the realms of the living and dead, that players can explore alone or with friends.
It’s darker and more challenging, with faster soulslike combat, stronger thematic, richer narrative,
deeper RPG systems, and more immersive storytelling.”

Today, CI Games shared a new gameplay showcase trailer for Lords of the Fallen, titled Dual Worlds. The Souls-like game is shaping up to be a pleasant surprise, in a year packed with high profile releases.
