The award-winning HD-2D RPG, LIVE A LIVE, is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC, following its release on the Nintendo Switch earlier this year. Those who want to play it on PC can currently save 20% and get a Steam key for $39.99 if purchased before May 11. Unfortunately there’s no discount on the PlayStation version.

If you have never heard of LIVE A LIVE, the original, a 1994 title, was released for the Super Famicom (SNES in Japan) and was directed by Takashi Tokita. That version of the game never made it outside Japan, but it earned cult classic status over the years. Last year, players outside of Japan were able to enjoy an official, localized version of the game for the first time, remade using Team Asano’s HD-2D method found in games like Octopath Traveler.

In fact, LIVE A LIVE is a spiritual predecessor to Octopath Traveler in a way. The game features eight different stories with eight different characters, each set within different time periods. A free playable demo is available on the PlayStation and PC if you are interested in checking out LIVE A LIVE before purchasing it.

We are in the process of reviewing the PC version of the game, mainly playing on the Steam Deck, and we should have a review published soon.
