Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is already available in Japan, but won’t be released in North America until February 11, 2014. When it does arrive in North America however, it will offer Japanese voice overs for the first time in the Final Fantasy’s storied history.
The Japanese voice overs will be available as a free DLC during the first two weeks of the game’s availability. After the two weeks are up, the Japanese voice over pack will be available as a paid DLC. According to Square Enix, the Japanese voice overs will also include lip-syncing that differs from the English-language voice track already included with Lightning Returns. This was done in order to ensure a more natural and localized game experience.
