The League of Legends universe will expand further in 2025. Riot Games has already shown off its fighting game, 2XKO, and now it has debuted Project K, a physical trading card game. It is being developed by a relatively small team, led by Game Director Dave Guskin and Executive Producer Chengran Chai. Currently, it has no publishing partner for the U.S. or other markets, but it has one in China, where it will launch first in early 2025. To be clear, Project K is not a physical version of Legends of Runeterra, but fans of the franchise will recognize existing art from other League of Legends games.

Riot plans to build a thriving community with a competitive ecosystem, aiming to host national and global tournaments. We’ll learn more early next year about the game and its global launch, including how to preorder a limited edition Arcane Box Set.

The League of Legends brand continues to grow rapidly, especially with the success of the Netflix series Arcane. The second and final season is now available, concluding the first of what will hopefully be many League of Legends adaptations.
