Action RPG fans have a lot to look forward to this month. Long gone are the days where most gamers only had Diablo seasons to look forward to. Alongside Path of Exile 2 confirming that The Third Edict goes live on August 29, Last Epoch detailed its Season 3, Beneath Ancient Skies. Slated to go live on August 21 at 9:00 AM Pacific (12:00 PM Eastern), the new season adds Chapter 10 to the campaign, with 17 new campaign zones and 28 new enemies and variants.
Another major addition is the Primal Hunt, in which campaign zones and Monolith of Fate Echoes (excluding Quest Echoes and Arena Echoes) can spawn a Mysterious Rift or a Torn Rift. Inside, players fight dangerous Rift Beasts, and continuing the Primal Hunt eventually earns Primordial Uniques and Primordial Exalted Items. These Rift Beasts have a wide variety of traits and abilities and continue to evolve throughout the Primal Hunt. Our explanation only scratches the surface, but if you want to learn more about the Primal Hunt, check out the full patch notes here.
Season 3 will also bring a massive list of changes, including numerous quality of life updates. As expected, classes and their skill trees will also see tweaks, and no action RPG update would be complete without new items.
We haven’t had a chance to revisit Last Epoch since we first played it in Early Access, but as soon as our schedule lightens up, we’re looking forward to diving back in.
