Nintendo isn’t letting its foot off the gas following the Switch 2 launch. On July 31, the company hosted a Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase focusing on third-party titles for Switch and Switch 2. It included the debuts of Octopath Traveler 0 and The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales from Square Enix, Persona 3 Reload, and Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. This week, Nintendo will host an Indie World Showcase on August 7, 2025, at 6:00 AM Pacific (9:00 AM Eastern). It will feature roughly 15 minutes of new announcements and updates on indie games heading to the Switch and Switch 2. Once again, fans will wait with bated breath for any news on Hollow Knight: Silksong. Hades II, hopefully with an official release date, is more likely to make an appearance.
This also means we will have to wait longer for news on Nintendo’s first-party titles. So far, the Switch 2 has had two excellent games, Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, but we do not yet have a release date for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which is still slated to arrive later this year. Fans are also eager to hear about a new Animal Crossing title, while RPG fans like myself want to know what Monolith Soft is working on and whether the Xenoblade Chronicles series will continue or take a new direction.
