Blizzard Entertainment has revealed details for its take on the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) genre with its Heroes of the Storm title. Being billed as a homage to all of Blizzard Entertainment’s games, Blizzard showed off a trailer for Heroes of the Storm that featured Kerrigan, Nova, Diablo, Jim Raynor, Arthas (in Lich King form) and Tyrael.

Footage from an alpha version of Heroes of the Storm was shown, giving players an insight as to what to expect when they get their hands on it on the show floor. Heroes of the Storm will feature unique battlegrounds set in the environment and worlds of Blizzard’s titles. One thing is for sure, Heroes of the Storm won’t be your typical three-lane pushing, tower killing MOBA.

Heroes of the Storm wants to “challenge the genre to show you what it can become,” promising various worlds with multiple game modes such as gathering treasures to enlist the help of NPCs and having ships enabled to turn against your enemies.

Blizzard also confirmed that Heroes of the Storm will be its own game, meaning it’s no longer a custom map that will be featured in StarCraft II. Beta signups for Heroes of the Storm will go live today, and it seems like the beta will be kicking off rather soon.

Full Cleared will be posting its first impressions of Heroes of the Storm once we get our hands on the demo here on the show floor.
