Depending on who you ask, today might be considered the start of this year’s summer gaming showcases. Sony’s PlayStation hosted a State of Play featuring 14 titles, while Konami followed with a Silent Hill Transmission focused on the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake. The highlight of the Silent Hill Transmission was a 13-minute gameplay video, giving us a good look at James Sunderland and the combat in the upcoming game. Konami confirmed the game will release on October 8, but those who opt for the Deluxe Edition can play on October 6. The Deluxe Edition includes a digital artbook, soundtrack, and in-game cosmetics.

Konami also shared a developer diary from Bloober Team, interviews with some of the voice actors, and a behind-the-scenes sneak peek at Return to Silent Hill. Return to Silent Hill will bring the horror franchise back to theaters, with Christophe Gans, director of the 2006 film, at the helm once again. The movie will be based on Silent Hill 2, which ties in well with the release of the remake.

Finally, Konami announced that Silent Hill: The Short Message has been downloaded over 2.5 million times. The free game launched earlier this year to mixed reception from fans.
