Hearthstone’s closed beta is preparing for a major update patch and with it will come a player wipe. At the start of the beta, Blizzard made it clear that at least one major wipe would occur, resetting all players progress. This was originally planned so that the company could make balance changes to the cards as well as the progress system and everyone could start on a level playing field. More importantly however, a promised reset on all accounts during beta made it easier for players to test certain functions in the game knowing that they’d lose their cards regardless.
According to Zeriyah, that time is coming close and all current Hearthstone beta players’ progress will be reset. That includes all the cards you’ve earned through purchasing or earning packs. But as we mentioned before in our Hearthstone impressions, Blizzard will credit you back all the gold equivalent of what you’ve spent on packs with real money.
Zeriyah also announced that Blizzard doesn’t anticipate any more wipes for Hearthstone moving forward, which could hint that open beta isn’t too far off. So moving forward once the Hearthstone wipe comes with its major patch, you’ll be able to keep everything you earned.
The wipe will only affect players in the North American and European beta tests.
