With a Hearthsone wipe coming soon, closed beta testers will be getting a patch with a ton of feature updates to Blizzard’s free-to-play virtual card game. Community manager Zeriyah has detailed some of the upcoming changes to Hearthstone today.

First and foremost, the Hearthstone daily quests will be getting a slight change. Instead of restricting you to get wins with a specific class, players will now be able to choose between two classes offering some additional flexibility. In addition, many golden cards will be getting new animations and players will also have the ability to unlock Golden Basic minions at higher experience levels.

The upcoming Hearthstone patch will also see improvements to the crafting user interface and the social system. According to Zeriyah, the chat functionality has been updated to “make it more streamlined to interact with your friends.” The team has also added toast notifications for when players do something in the game like open a Legendary card or complete an Arena run.

Most importantly however, balance changes are coming with the Rogue class seeing some of its key spells and minions adjusted to bring them more in line with the other classes. Poor Rogues, still getting the nerf bat even in another world. Warriors and Priests will also be seeing changes to their decks with new tools and improved cards. Other adjustments have been made to other classes, but the major changes will revolve around the Rogue, Warrior and Priest decks.

The Hearthstone patch will also change how experience is gained: players will be able to max out their Hero to level 60 by gaining experience in any game mode including Play Mode (ranked or unranked), Practice, matches against friends and of course, the Arena. The gold generation rate will also be changed from five earned for every five wins to 10 earned for every three wins. The team noted that it’ll continue to monitor gold generation rates during closed beta and will make adjustments as needed.

Lastly, The Arena mode’s rewards will also see a change. Generally speaking, rewards gained will include less dust and more cards with a more gold guaranteed if you get five or six wins. An extra pack or a golden card is now guaranteed at nine victories.

With the blog post going live today, it is likely that the Hearthstone patch and wipe will be coming this week, hopefully tomorrow.

Update: Zeriyah just tweeted that tomorrow’s maintenance is not for the upcoming patch.
