During Sony’s press conference at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann announced that HBO’s The Last of Us season 2 is debuting this April. The second season will feature seven episodes and takes place five years after the events of the first season. For those familiar with the games, the plot won’t be much of a surprise. However, for those who have only watched the series, season 2’s story is set by Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) being drawn into conflict with each other in a world that’s even more dangerous and unpredictable than before. Similar to the first season, The Last of Us season 2 has Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann serving as writers and executive producers.

Along with Pedro Pascal returning as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, the season 2 cast includes Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. Previously announced new cast includes Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. Catherine O’Hara will also guest star in the series.

No specific date in April has been announced, but we did get a new trailer that gives us our best look at Kaitlyn Dever in the role of Abby.
