Today marks the official 10th anniversary of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s launch, and it’s hard to believe that the MMORPG has come so far since its initially disastrous launch a decade ago. In our review of A Realm Reborn 10 years ago, we talked about how impressed we were with the makeover, saying that “the future of Eorzea is very bright.” Even we couldn’t have anticipated just how big Final Fantasy XIV would grow, with some of its expansions delivering the best Final Fantasy stories ever.
Many consider Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn to be the biggest comeback in video game history and players are getting ready for its next expansion, Dawntrail, which is set to launch in summer 2024. For those who don’t know the entire story of Final Fantasy XIV’s seemingly impossible rebirth, Noclip’s three-part documentary is by far the best way to learn about the game’s incredible journey.
Even if you have no interest in MMORPGs, you should give the game a try if you haven’t yet. The free trial is expanding to include the Stormblood expansion. Obviously, I highly recommend it since Final Fantasy XIV is on my list of the best games I’ve ever played.
