Given the success of Grounded, a sequel was inevitable. We just didn’t think it would be revealed and playable a month later. During Xbox Games Showcase 2025, Obsidian Entertainment dropped a pleasant surprise by revealing Grounded 2 and confirming it’ll be available in Game Preview (Early Access) on July 29, 2025. Once again, players will be shrunk to the size of an ant, but this time, the world is much larger. Like the original, Grounded 2 will be a crafting survival game that’s best enjoyed with others—but it can be played solo.

The trailer revealed new adventures and perils for our party of familiar characters from the first game. It also showed off buggies, which are essentially mounts that players can hatch, raise, and ride. These insects can be commanded in battle and can even help in gathering resources. Of course, there’s a greater threat looming in the story, and we can’t wait to dive in next month.
