Last year, Game Informer’s owners, GameStop, shut down the publication after over 30 years of production. This resulted in the entire team being laid off, and everything related to the publication, including the website, was shut down. While most people would have given up, the staff at Game Informer decided they truly had something special and chose to fight. Surprisingly, Game Informer, as a brand and outlet, was purchased by Gunzilla Games, makers of Off The Grid, and the entire team has jobs again.

According to an article published on Game Informer’s website, Game Informer will remain an independent editorial outlet and will now operate under an entity called Game Informer Inc. It will be interesting to see whether Gunzilla Games will have any influence on Game Informer’s content, especially since Off The Grid is a web3 game with crypto and NFT elements. But hey, the company brought back one of gaming’s most beloved publications, including all of its website content, which is a good thing.

Along with the announcement that Game Informer is back, the staff published dozens of new reviews and its long-awaited list for the Best Games of 2024. Editor-in-Chief Matt Miller confirmed Game Informer will also resume its print magazine, with details on that coming soon.
