In September 2025, Nintendo announced Doug Bowser would retire as Nintendo of America’s president and chief operating officer on December 31, 2025. Now, as part of his retirement, Bowser has been appointed to Hasbro’s Board of Directors, along with Carla Vernón, CEO of The Honest Company, Inc. Hasbro is one of the largest companies in the game and toy industries, owning IPs such as Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, Monopoly, Nerf, Transformers, Play-Doh, and more. The company boasts over 164 years of experience and says its products have reached 500 million kids, families, and fans around the world.
Bowser’s appointment to the Board of Directors brings decades of experience in the video game industry. During his recent stint at Nintendo of America, he oversaw the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 and expanded Nintendo of America’s footprint in Latin America. He also served as an executive officer of Nintendo Co., Ltd., in Kyoto, Japan, collaborating with NCL and Nintendo of Europe executives to align on worldwide goals. Before joining Nintendo, Bowser spent years at Electronic Arts and Procter & Gamble.
