Final Fantasy XVI revealed two DLCs at The Game Awards 2023, Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide. As a big surprise, Echoes of the Fallen is getting a shadow drop and will be available later this evening. Both DLCs will take place prior to the end of the main storyline in Final Fantasy XVI, which might be disappointing to many who were hoping to see a story focused around other characters from the cast, including Jill and Cid. We will, however, learn the mystery behind Leviathan in The Rising Tide when it releases in spring 2024.

Echoes of the Fallen introduces a new story, additional battles, weapons, accessories, an increased level cap, and more. Players can access this new adventure after completing the necessary quests. It starts before the base game’s final battle, with strange dark crystals circulating on the black market. In this DLC, Clive and his friends investigate the dark crystals, leading them to encounter suspicious traders and venture into the long-abandoned Fallen tower, Sagespire.

Those who purchase Echoes of the Fallen or the Expansion Pass will receive the Buster Sword bonus item, allowing Clive to equip Cloud Strife’s iconic weapon. There is also an Orchestrion Roll for Away (1987), a chip-tune version of the song Away.

The Rising Tide DLC will introduce new challenges, including a showdown between Clive and Leviathan.

The expansion pass that contains both DLCs is available for a special discounted price.
