Fez II, the sequel to the independent hit Fez, has been cancelled Polytron announced on its Twitter account this morning. Of course, we’re not entirely confident this is an official statement from the team as developer Phil Fish has recently taken to Twitter attacking certain game journalists for running “rumors” as “news.” Then again, this could just be more collateral damage from Microsoft’s recent reversal on its indie policies for the Xbox One.
It’s worth noting that Fish tweeted earlier that Fez II was cancelled and then promptly locked his Twitter account. Many felt that it was just a result of the stampede occurring due to Marcus Beer directly attacking indie developers Phil Fish and Jonathan Blow, creator of Braid. But with a tweet coming from Polytron’s official Twitter account, perhaps Fez II has been tossed into the graveyard.
Update: Phil Fish has confirmed that he is getting out of the gaming industry, so it appears that Fez II is officially dead.
