Numerous rumors suggest that Square Enix is working on the Final Fantasy IX Remake, thanks to the infamous NVIDIA leak; however, nothing has been officially confirmed. However, if you wish to get even a remote idea of how it could potentially look, you can turn to the impressive Memoria Project.

Final Fantasy IX: Memoria Project is essentially a non-playable passion project, acting as a tribute to Final Fantasy IX. The team, consisting of professional developers and artists in the video game industry, is collaborating to reimagine what Final Fantasy IX would look like if it were remade using modern graphical capabilities — in this case, with Unreal Engine 5. Before you get too excited, the project is never going to be released publicly unless Square Enix allows it. However, don’t expect that to happen, especially if the company is working on its own official remake.

Unfortunately for Square Enix, the team at the Memoria Project is setting a high bar. If the official remake (should it exist) doesn’t look as appealing as this, fans might end up questioning why.
