One of our favorite games of the year, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, is getting a free major update around Christmas this year. Called The Sinister Broken Bazario’s Schemes, players will be invited to a land of dreams called Snoozaland. It resembles Ginormosia, but it’s actually a world that only exists within someone’s nightmare. Each time the player enters Snoozaland, they’ll start off as a brand new level one character with nothing to their name. They’ll learn new Lives, get items, clear missions, and progress toward facing off against the nightmare’s mastermind. This is basically a roguelike mode in which players will also get to choose one of three options for their upgrades.

With each run, players will get materials that can be traded in for rare items. The update will bring new equipment, mounts, and craftable objects, so there’s a lot to look forward to. All the items obtained through exchanges in the DLC can be used in the main game. While in Snoozaland, either alone or with friends, players might run into a Drowsy Mimic, which grants a dreamtastic reward to the first person who touches it. There are also Alchemy Robots that take in unwanted materials and equipment to churn out something random.

Along with The Sinister Broken Bazario’s Schemes, developer LEVEL5 also teased the Primordial Dragon high-difficulty boss battle that will come in a later update. It promises to be the most powerful boss yet for Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time.

After numerous delays, we started to believe Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time would be a buggy mess. Turns out, the team actually took the extra time to polish up the game because it delivered one of the most fun experiences we had all year. As we said in our review, the game successfully pulls in the best parts of Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, and Stardew Valley, while adding a rudimentary combat system and a spacious world to explore.
