Epic Games Store has shared its 2024 Year in Review, starting off by confirming that it reached 295 million PC users last year, marking an increase of 25 million year over year. The company’s ecosystem has expanded as well with 898 million total Epic cross-platform accounts, which is 94 million more than the year before. These cross-platform accounts include partner platforms and the Epic Games Store on mobile, which was launched last year on Android and iOS in the EU. Daily Active Users (DAUs) on the platform peaked at 37.2 million, while Monthly Active Users (MAUs) peaked at 74 million, which is a slight decrease compared to last year’s 75 million.

Last year, the storefront saw 1,100 new games, bringing the grand total to over 4,000 titles. Total spending on the platform, including Epic’s games, reached $1.09 billion last year, which is a 15 percent increase from 2023. More importantly, third-party gametime increased from 2.41 billion hours in 2023 to 2.68 billion hours in 2024, which is an 11 percent increase year over year.

Most gamers, though, who are invested in the Epic Games Store platform, will be happy to hear that the Free Games Platform will continue this year on both PC and mobile. Epic confirmed that a total of 89 free games, totaling $2,229 in total value, have been given to users over the years.

Looking forward to this year, Epic shared some of its plans for the platform. The team will continue to focus on building the Epic Games Store Mobile App on both Android and iOS, and plans on opening up its mobile self-publishing tools to all mobile developers. Users can also look forward to non-gaming apps so a wider variety of content can be listed on all Epic Games Store supported platforms.

For most gamers, though, they will be happy to hear that gifting will finally be added this year, along with a new download manager on PC and Mac in the first quarter of 2025. The download manager will give users the ability to control the timing of updates, schedule downloads, reorder their queue, and make various other quality-of-life changes. Pre-loading will also finally be available, so players can download and install their content ahead of launch. There are also improvements in the works for the platform’s search functionality, including predictive search and semantic search. Other improvements heading to the Epic Games Store in 2025 include new social features with multi-platform support and the ability to switch from their native platform store view to other platforms to browse and shop for apps.

Finally, Epic also shared the top PC game titles from last year based on player spending and engagement. The titles were split into three tiers: Mythic, Legendary, and Epic.
