Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is launching on June 21 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco announced today. Sharing the sizable DLC’s first official gameplay trailer, Shadow of the Erdtree will feature new bosses and powers, including a new villain named Mesmer the Impaler. In the expansion, players will take to the Land of Shadow, an area that has been obscured by the Erdtree, where the goddess Marika first set foot. They’ll be able to seamlessly travel back and forth between the two large maps.
The DLC’s standard edition will cost $39.99, while a Premium Bundle costs $49.99 and includes a digital artbook and soundtrack. Those who have not yet stepped into the Lands Between can get the Shadow of the Erdtree Edition package for $79.99, which includes the base game, expansion, and the Ring of Miquella bonus gesture. The Shadow of the Erdtree Deluxe Edition, priced at $99.99, includes the base game, expansion, a digital artbook, soundtrack for both, and the bonus gesture.
The Bandai Namco Store has an exclusive Collector’s Edition ($249.99), including a physical 40-page hardcover artbook, a statue of Mesmer the Impaler, and a voucher code for the DLC and the official soundtrack—base game is not included. For the ultimate collector, the store is selling a Helmet of Mesmer the Impaler separately for $189.99.
In true Elden Ring form, FromSoftware included a passage that hints at what players will be experiencing in Shadow of the Erdtree:
The Land of Shadow.
A place obscured by the Erdtree.
Where the goddess Marika first set foot.A land purged in an unsung battle.
Set ablaze by Messmer’s flame. It was to this land that Miquella departed.
Divesting himself of his flesh, his strength, his lineage.
Of all things Golden. And now Miquella awaits
the return of his promised Lord.
