Diablo V is coming in Spring 2029, Blizzard confirmed during the BlizzCon 2026 Opening Ceremony, and the premise breaks from every previous entry in the series: Sanctuary has already fallen and Diablo has won. Players will enter a world where the Lord of Terror has triumphed and its heroes have been defeated, with the game built around what Blizzard calls its defining question of what you must become when the world is already lost. The reveal was a cinematic teaser only, with no gameplay, platforms, or classes shown, though a Diablo V: Forging the Next Era panel at 1:45 PM Pacific (4:45 PM Eastern) today has Blizzard president Johanna Faries sitting down with the development team for an early look at the story, world-building, and class design philosophy. A 2029 window means Diablo IV has at least two and a half more years as the series’ main game. I reviewed the base game at launch as death by a thousand cuts, the first Diablo that got less fun the more I played it, but the second expansion turned that around: I called Lord of Hatred a divine redemption in June, the update that finally made Diablo IV feel like a real Diablo game. Season of Hell’s Legacy, the 30th anniversary season, starts rolling out September 15 at 9:30 AM Pacific (12:30 PM Eastern) and brings back Deckard Cain to guide players through a story involving all three Prime Evils. You’ll confront Baal, Mephisto, and Diablo, reclaim splinters of their souls, and carry one of the Splinters to take on a portion of that Prime Evil’s power, with Blizzard warning the gift comes at a steep price. When I covered the season’s PTR in July, I said the direction lined up with what won me back in the first place.

The Amazon is Diablo IV’s next class, arriving in the first half of 2027 as the game’s first standalone class pack rather than part of an expansion, which is a change from how the Spiritborn shipped with Vessel of Hatred. She hails from the island of Skovos, which Lord of Hatred introduced, and splits into four gameplay archetypes: Champion, Skirmisher, Ranger, and Commander. The bow returns alongside the javelin, an entirely new weapon type for Diablo IV. Pricing and further details are coming later, but the Diablo IV: What’s Next panel on September 13 at 11:00 AM Pacific (2:00 PM Eastern) will show more of the Amazon and premiere the Season of Hell’s Legacy gameplay trailer.
Diablo IV is also coming to Switch 2 on September 15 as the Age of Hatred Collection, which bundles the base game with Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred and supports cross-platform play and cross-progression. Rounding out the ceremony, Blizzard and Netflix are developing an animated series set in the world of Diablo, with no further details beyond that, and Diablo Immortal is getting a Spawn crossover, with Todd McFarlane joining a live drawing session on the Arena Stage Sunday at 10:00 AM Pacific (1:00 PM Eastern). XBOX players can pick up Diablo IV at 75 percent off through September 22.
