If you missed out on the previous Diablo IV open beta, you’ll have one more chance to check out the game ahead of its release in June. During today’s Diablo IV developer update stream, the Diablo IV team confirmed it will host another open beta in the form of a “Server Slam.” The team wants to do as much testing as it can so that the launch of the game is as smooth as it can possibly be.
The Diablo IV Server Slam will take place May 12 9:00am PDT / 12:00pm EDT until May 14 12:00pm PDT / 3:00pm EDT and will be very similar to the previous open beta, except the level cap is 20 instead of 25. Players will have access to all five classes and will be able to explore the first zone, Fractured Peaks. Story content includes the prologue and all of Act 1. Those who reach level 20 will get the Beta Wolf Pack rewards at launch, and those who defeat the world boss Ashava at level 20 will get the Cry of Ashava Mount Trophy.
However, there will be some changes in the Server Slam. Legendary drop rates won’t be inflated, so players will get their first impressions on how the actual drop rates will feel at lower levels. Ashava will begin spawning 24 hours after the beta starts, so May 13 9:00am PDT / 12:00pm EDT, and will respawn every three hours. Also, the changes that were announced as a result of beta feedback will be incorporated into the Server Slam. Unfortunately, we still aren’t going to be getting a map overlay.
