Blizzard’s Josh Mosqueira just tweeted to confirm that Diablo III Patch 2.0.1 will be coming in a couple of weeks. The Diablo III Patch 2.0.1 will add numerous changes and features to the game including Clans & Communities, Cursed Chests events, Loot 2.0, Paragon 2.0, updates to all the classes, crafting updates, difficulty updates and monster updates.
Loot 2.0 and the changes to the Paragon system are most welcoming with the new patch, which has been on the PTR for a couple of months now. Loot 2.0 will include the “smart drop” system, which helps ensure items that drop will have stats tailored to the character you are playing when the item drops. Item properties will also be separated into two categories: Primary and Secondary. Stat ranges on items have also been narrowed significantly so that they’re more meaningful and useful when they drop. In other words, Loot 2.0 will be more about quality than quantity. And of course, all the Legendaries have been reworked with many of them sporting build-changing stats.
The other major change is to the Paragon system, which will now be account wide rather than character specific. Players will be able to spend points earned through Paragon leveling through four categories: Core, Offense, Defense and Utility. Upgrades include boosts to main stat, vitality, movement speed, resource, crit chance, crit damage, attack speed, life, armor, resist all and more.
