The Diablo III auction house is officially closed following this morning’s early maintenance. Those that listed items which haven’t expired yet will have to wait until they do in order to claim them. All players will have until June 24, 2014 to grab their items from the Completed tab.

The Diablo III auction house was originally created to offer players a safe place to trade and obtain items, without having to resort to third-party websites or in-game trades. It launched with quite a bit of controversy, as drop rates were scaled back due to the auction house’s presence. In addition, players were able to easily obtain the gear they needed in order to copy a strong build on the Internet, resulting in the feeling that nothing good ever dropped.

Along with the standard auction house shutting down, the Real Money Auction House has also closed. Those with pending Battle.net balances will be able to spend their funds on anything within Blizzard’s store including the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, Warlords of Draenor.

The first Diablo III expansion, Reaper of Souls, will be released next week on March 25.
