IO Interactive, mainly known for its Hitman franchise, has unveiled 007 First Light, a third-person action-adventure game currently slated for release sometime in 2026. It’s a standalone reimagining of James Bond’s origin and will be the youngest Bond fans have ever met at just 26 years old. That means he’s not that refined, sophisticated gentleman we’re used to seeing on the big screen. Instead, this Bond is sometimes reckless, depending on his sharp instincts to figure out when to fight, when to bluff, and when to disappear.

According to IO Interactive, 007 First Light starts off with Bond as a NAVY air crewman before heading into MI6’s most challenging training program. This completely original standalone story is being developed in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios. Of course, Bond will be joined on this adventure with other iconic characters from the franchise, including M, Q, and Moneypenny. New characters will also be part of the story, including Greenway, who is Bond’s mentor. Expect a variety of gameplay, mixing combat with full-throttle driving, stealth with cutting-edge gadgets.

007 First Light is being built on IO Interactive’s proprietary engine, Glacier. The team intends to share more details on gameplay, story, and more later this year. It will also be enhanced for PlayStation 5 Pro, taking advantage of PSSR, so the game is playable at 60 FPS in Quality Mode.
