Bungie’s Destiny is heading to mobile platforms with Destiny: Rising. The game will host its first closed alpha on November 1, 2024 for players in the U.S. and Canada. The pool of participants will be randomly selected, but you’ll need to pre-register for a chance to participate. According to the official announcement trailer, Destiny: Rising is set in an alternate Destiny timeline, likely designed to appeal to an audience that hasn’t played the mainline games and expansions.

Those who are interested in Destiny: Rising, NetEase Games recommends a Snapdragon 845 or newer device for Android players, while iPhone owners will need an iPhone 8 or newer. With all the different iPad models out there, the breakdown is a bit more complex for the tablet:

  • iPad (8th generation) or newer
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2nd generation) or newer
  • iPad Pro (10.5-inch) (2017) or newer
  • iPad Pro (11-inch, 1st generation) or newer
  • iPad mini (5th generation) or newer
  • iPad Air (3rd generation) or newer

As for the closed alpha, it will feature a portion of the main campaign, including at least one map for all game modes. The team’s primary focus is to optimize its core PvE experiences. Destiny: Rising will support third-party controllers on both Android and iOS. Progress from the closed alpha will not carry over into the final game.

Now under the Sony banner, Bungie recently cut 220 jobs from its workforce; however, it’s worth reiterating that Destiny: Rising is developed by NetEase Games, not Bungie.

With Destiny: Rising, NetEase Games is honored to partner with Bungie to deliver a Destiny-caliber experience to mobile devices. Destiny is an incredible franchise with a passionate and dedicated global fanbase. As huge fans ourselves, we are humbled and thrilled for the opportunity to bring gamers an action-packed RPG shooter set within the Destiny Universe.
