Peak, published by Aggro Crab and Landfall, has sold five million units in under a month. This co-op climbing game has won the PC gaming community over with its $7.99 price tag and deceptively difficult gameplay. It is however, plenty of fun, especially when played with friends—since multiplayer is friends-only with up to four players total. Featuring four biomes, the game presents players with plenty of obstacles while scaling the mountain, which changes every day. Along the way, they’ll also have to scavenge for questionable food to survive, while managing injuries since every setback limits stamina.
Much of Peak’s appeal is how the map rotates out every 24 hours, so players can try out new layouts each day. There are also badges and cosmetics they can unlock to show off their success. The game isn’t just entertaining to play; it’s also entertaining to watch, which has contributed to its success over the last few weeks.
