Our friends at Freehold Games have announced Caves of Qud is finally heading to Nintendo Switch on February 16. The award-winning title originally entered Early Access on PC back in July 2015 and finally saw its full release in December 2024. It’s a traditional science fantasy roguelike, with 2D turn-based gameplay and a really deep physical simulation.

Like the PC release, Caves of Qud will have four modes on the Switch: Classic, Roleplay, Wander, and Daily. Classic mode is the traditional roguelike experience, which means permadeath. Those who want more of an RPG experience will want to try Roleplay mode, which allows players to save their progress at checkpoints located in settlements. The Wander mode is designed for explorers, as most creatures will not attack and players don’t gain any experience by killing. They do, however, gain experience by discovering new locations and trading with legendary creatures. Finally, the Daily mode gives players a single chance with a fixed character and world seed to see how long they can survive.
