Borderlands 4 has released a teaser trailer for the first of two upcoming Vault Hunters: C4SH. He has one of the best designs I’ve seen for a Vault Hunter, and it sounds like he’ll have mechanics built around RNG. “A roll of the dice, a flip of a card, a spin of the bullets in a chamber—these are among the random chances that fascinate C4SH,” Gearbox shared. He’ll join as part of the paid Story Pack DLC, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. Those who own the Super Deluxe Edition or Vault Hunter Pack will also get access.
Announced during the Borderlands 4 panel at Tokyo Game Show 2025, C4SH is planned to launch in Q1 2026 and will be accompanied by multiple main and side missions set in a new zone of Kairos. He’s a former casino dealer bot turned drifter, chasing the probability-breaking highs of cursed eldritch artifacts. His Action Skills are unpredictable with an element of chance, but we’ll have to wait for full details later on. It definitely sounds like C4SH will appeal to those who like a risk-reward playstyle.
Ahead of the game’s launch on September 12, the team at Gearbox Software shared Borderlands 4’s roadmap. We can look forward to a seasonal mini-event called Horrors of Kairos, which will add new Legendary weapons, cosmetics, and a new weather variant. The first Bounty Pack is also slated to release before the end of the year, adding new missions and a boss, Legendary gear, and more. Another free content update for 2025 adds high-level boss variants and an arena, as well as Legendary weapons and an additional Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode (UVHM) level.
We really enjoyed our time with Borderlands 4 when it launched, although we acknowledge that the game has severe performance issues on PC. Still, few games capture the entertainment the Borderlands series provides, and Borderlands 4 further refines that gameplay loop, making it more satisfying than ever. Unfortunately, we found the story and characters to be less than memorable, especially when compared to Borderlands 2.
