Rejoice! Borderlands 2 is heading to the Sony PlayStation Vita. As great and powerful of a system the Vita is, it’s been struggling in sales due to a weak lineup of titles. Even the most hardcore of Vita fanatics would agree that the system lacks anything ground breaking or memorable, with Persona 4 most commonly known as the “must-have” game for the handheld system. Nonetheless, Sony is making a real strong push to get its Vita on the forefront, especially with its compatibility with the PlayStation 4 console.
Along with announcing a price drop on the Vita system and its memory cards, Sony announced that the popular Borderlands 2 would be heading to the Vita next year. More details on the first-person shooter heading portable has now been revealed, with Iron Galaxy Studios teaming up with 2K and PlayStation to make it a reality. The game will feature Axton the Commando, Maya the Siren, Salvador the Gunzerker, and Zer0 the Assassin as playable Vault Hunters and will have built-in, four-player coop.
No word on whether the Borderlands 2 DLC will be making its way to the portable version, though we would be surprised if it didn’t. No definitive release date has been announced, but it’ll be heading to the Vita in 2014.
