Previously, DICE had announced that cross-gen play wouldn’t be available for Battlefield 4, but the developer has now gone back to revise that policy. Players of Battlefield 4 on current-gen systems will be able to do a one-time transfer of their stats to next-gen consoles, with a slight catch. PlayStation 3 gamers will only be able to transfer to PlayStation 4, while Xbox 360 gamers will only be able to transfer to Xbox One.

That means those that were hesitant to begin playing Battlefield 4 when it releases on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 29, 2013 won’t have to worry about taking the plunge when the game comes out for next-generation consoles. Then again, the release dates for the next-generation consoles have yet to be announced and it could be rather close to Battlefield 4‘s official release date.
