Baldur’s Gate 3 launched earlier this month on PC and will be heading to PlayStation 5 on September 6. There has been a lot of discussion on why the massive CRPG doesn’t have a release date on Xbox, but it’s mainly because of the hurdles in providing the same experience on Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. However, Swen Vincke, CEO of Larian Studios, confirmed on Twitter that after meeting with Xbox’s Phil Spencer, they found a solution to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox players this year.
“Super happy to confirm that after meeting @XboxP3 [Phil Spencer] yesterday, we’ve found a solution that allows us to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox players this year still, something we’ve been working towards for quite some time,” said Swen Vincke on X (Twitter). “All improvements will be there, with split-screen coop on Series X. Series S will not feature split-screen coop, but will also include cross-save progression between Steam and Xbox Series.”
So it looks like Xbox has agreed to letting Larian Studios drop split-screen support on Xbox Series S, at least for launch. The game will benefit from all the improvements the PC version has received, just like the upcoming PlayStation 5 release. For now, Xbox gamers have Starfield to look forward to, which release on September 6 or September 1 if you upgraded for Early Access.
