Team Asobi’s Astro Bot has taken home top honors at The Game Awards 2024, winning Game of the Year over Balatro, Black Myth: Wukong, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Metaphor: ReFantazio. It’s a huge win for Team Asobi and the Astro Bot series. Up until Astro Bot’s release, Astro’s Playroom is arguably the most well-known title, and it was a free game included with the PlayStation 5 to demonstrate the DualSense’s capabilities. The team took that to an entirely new level with the standalone Astro Bot. In my review, I found Astro Bot to be simply a joy to play. It is a game that focuses on having fun and putting smiles on players’ faces from beginning to end.
For many, this year’s list of nominees didn’t have a clear favorite like in past years with titles such as Elden Ring and Baldur’s Gate 3, last year’s winner. Congratulations to Team Asobi and PlayStation on bringing home Game of the Year from The Game Awards 2024.
